A Month Of Fall Activities For The Whole Family

a month of fall activities for the whole family

We challenge your family to do a month of fall activities! Did you know that fall is our favourite season? That’s why we are super excited to go on fall adventures with our toddler this year. We hope you will make precious fall memories this season too. Here is some ideas so you can have a month of fall activities for the whole family to enjoy – Toronto edition! Happy fall!

Go on a hike at Mount Nemo

Mt. Nemo is one of the best trails in the GTA for non-hikers (like ourselves). The trail is short and has spectacular views of the area. Look out for the turkey vultures too!

Bake apple pie

Spend an afternoon making apple pies for all your loved ones. Your home will smell just scrumptious too!

Go on a scenic drive

A lot of the country roads around the GTA have amazing sights. Grab a coffee, put on some Neil Young, and drive, drive, drive!

Corn maze

Feed your inner child by frolicing around in a corn maze. Every member of the family will love this fall activity.

Carve a pumpkin

Don’t just do a generic jack-o-lantern. Get REALLY creative and try something elaborate. When you light it up, it’ll be stunning.

Go to a petting zoo

Lionel’s Farm is one of our favourite spots in the Stouffville area. Bring your own veggies to feed the farm animals. Guaranteed you’ll have a great time.

Cook a turkey

Cooking a turkey is a wonderful thing to do with family. Everyone can get involved and the result is a succulent and juicy bird for dinner!

Get hot chocolate

It’s never a bad time for hot chocolate – just ask Tim Horton’s. Grab some at your local coffee shop or make your own delicious brew.

Go on a hayride

Enjoy the cool breeze on a horse-drawn or tractor-pulled wagon. Count pumpkins in the pumpkin patch, say “see you next year” to the geese, and watch the vibrant leaves fall off the trees.

Visit Pumpkins After Dark

Enjoy a magical night out with the family to witness thousands of pumpkins light up the skies. This will be stunning! Purchase your tickets here!

Make a blanket fort

Fall inevitably has its mucky rainy days. Get comfy and cozy with your kids by building a blanket fort in your living room!

Buy matching cozy socks

Nothing screams fall like warm wool socks. PSL, cozy bay window, and a classic romance movie – you complete the picture!

Make a thankful tree

This is an amazing activity to get your kids thinking about reasons to be thankful while also doing crafts. Do a giant family tree or get everyone to make their own.

Get a PSL

Pumpkin spice latte, if you did not know already is becoming the sign of fall. Pair this lovely beverage with another one of these activities and you’ll be content this season.

Make pumpkin bread

Fill your kitchen with sugar, spice, and everything nice this fall by baking delicious pumpkin bread. Those carved pumpkins have to be used for something!

Help a neighbour rake leaves

Make someone feel loved this fall by raking their leaves. You can also involve your children to teach them about kindness.

Have a fall-themed photoshoot

What does a stunning horizon, cozy sweaters, crunchy leaves, and a gathered family make? Amazing family photos! Practically any shot will be memorable.

See the foliage at High Park

This beautiful park is a must-see any time of the year, but it’s even more special during the fall. Enjoy the fall colours!

Kidapalooza Fall Festival

Your kids will have a blast at this indoor fall festival. There will be activity stations, inflatables, rides, shows and vendors. It’ll be a blast.

Go to a farmer’s market

Find a local farmer’s market and grab some of the delicacies of fall such as smoked meat, pumpkin pie, and butternut squash.

Decorate your home with fall decor

Seeing the scenery outdoors will inevitably motivate you to decorate your home with the same colors. Make your living space special with some mini pumpkins or wreaths.

Make a food bank donation

Get in the Thanksgiving mood by giving food to those who do not have what you have. You could even bring your family to volunteer together.

Make matching Halloween costumes

With trick-or- treating right around the corner, what could be better than going as a family with matching costumes? This is bound to make for some great pictures too.

Host a family for Thanksgiving dinner

It’s good to gather together and celebrate the abundance of blessing we have received. Invite your neighbour, a family at church, or your distant relatives over for some turkey and stuffing.

Boo at the Zoo

Enjoy a fun day at the Toronto Zoo. Children in costume have free admission with a donation of a non-perishable food item!

Pick apples at Applewood Winery

Nothing fits autumn better than picking apples at the Applewood Winery. Then drink some apple cider and buy an apple pie. Your autumn is complete.

Do a fall-themed DIY activity

Children love fall because of the leaves and the puddles. Expand your kids’ minds by setting up some amazing DIY crafts for them to do!

Make butternut squash soup

Warm and velvety soup is the perfect treat after a morning of raking and bagging. It’s simple to make and super healthy.

Visit PumpkinFest Toronto

Check out this fun festival on Thanksgiving weekend. There will be a big giant pumpkin, a life stage, and rides for the whole family!

Go trick-or-treating

The kids will love dressing up and getting candy; the parents will love seeing the excitement on their kids’ faces. Our favourite trick-or-treating neighbourhoods are Unionville and Leaside.
