8 Toys That Grow With Your Toddler

must-have toys that grow with your toddler

Don’t fill your home with countless toys that will only be played with a few times. Rather, be efficient and fill your home with few toys that will be played with countless times. Here are eight toys that will grow with your toddler.

These toys are perfect for toddlers ages 18 months to 3 years old. In the world of toddler toys, these stand out as timeless, educational, grow with your child and provide long-lasting fun.

PS. with Christmas around the corner, these are fantastic gift ideas for your favourite toddler!

Lacing Beads

My toddler loves creating long chains of beads. Start with big and colourful beads that are easy to thread.  My toddler mastered it quickly so I bought another set of smaller beads (the kind big girls use to make jewellery).  It’s fantastic for enhancing fine motor skills.

Puzzles

Puzzles are timeless! They’re great for improving hand-eye coordination and they’re a great tool for learning other concepts (like shapes, colours, letters and numbers). Right now we absolutely love our shape sorting clock, alphabet, and I spy puzzle.

Trampoline

Every toddler needs a toddler-sized trampoline to release some of that pent up energy. This is a fantastic way to teach your toddler how to jump. And once they’ve mastered it, they’re not going to stop!

Balls

Gather a bunch of different types of balls and watch your toddler go nuts. They’re fantastic for improving gross motor skills – we have a ton of fun kicking and throwing them around. They’re also great for teaching concepts like sorting and sports.

Play-dough

Buy or make play-dough and go wild! Toddlers love the feel of soft dough between their little palms. There’s no need to get fancy by purchasing play-doh accessories. Get a few cutters and household items. That’s enough to keep them busy!

Interactive Books

Interactive books are a fantastic way to encourage toddlers to learn independently with books. My toddler can spend a good amount of time busying herself with these. Our favourites are LeapFrog Learning Friends 100 Words & Story Reader Go.

Plastic Animals

Plastic toy animals are so versatile. A younger toddler might use them to learn about different types of animals. As they grow, they’ll pretend-play (especially if you make or buy a landscape).

Kitchen Play

Every toddler needs a kitchen set. Make sure to get a variety of accessories and watch her cook up a storm. Lately we’ve also been really fond of this cutting board set that teaches her to use a knife to cut like a pro!

These toys have been tested and tried by yours truly and they do not disappoint! These toys will grow with your toddler and will be a hot commodity for a long time.
